New Vice Chair for the Centre Group
During the Centre Group’s meeting held in connection with the Nordic Council’s theme session in Oslo, Halla Hrund Logadóttir was elected as the new Vice Chair of the Centre Group. Logadóttir is a member of the Icelandic Althingi.
The Nordic Council’s 2026 theme session focuses on crisis preparedness in the Nordic region. Before the session the Centre Group held its group meeting, during which the group elected its board, among other matters. Jouni Ovaska of Finland was re-elected as Chair. Halla Hrund Logadóttir of Iceland was elected as the new Vice Chair.
– I am honoured to receive the group’s confidence as Vice Chair. In these times, it is important to stand up for strong Nordic cooperation. In our region and in the Arctic, we see growing security policy challenges, and we must work together to safeguard our security. The discussions during this session show that there is much the Nordic countries need to do in order to cope with future crises.
